Beyond the QEAA

The foundation of the Queensland Embroidery Arts Association (QEAA) is directly rooted in the legacy of the 'Xiu Zhen Ge' Embroidery School and Art Gallery, which was established by renowned artist Jenny Gao in Brisbane in 2015. What began as a private sanctuary for fine art focused on teaching ancient oriental silk embroidery techniques while blending them with modern concepts.
Over the decade, the school attracted a significant number of trainees who gathered to find relaxation, enjoy their retirement, and record their treasured memories through needlework. This growing collective of embroidery lovers eventually transformed the private haven into a much larger movement.
To expand on this shared passion, the QEAA was officially established on August 15, 2025, in Sunnybank. Built upon the art of Chinese embroidery nurtured at 'Xiu Zhen Ge', the association now serves as a vibrant community hub uniting people across Brisbane to preserve, practice, and promote the craft.
